Amid the rise of a plethora of cake shops in the metro, one store in particular, continues to build a strong client base, thanks to its trademark caramel-laced chiffon cakes ornamented with pastel-colored rose accents.
For the past 67 years, Estrel’s has been making these uniquely delish creations incorporating “traditional, time-tested methods of home-baking” devoid of any form of preservatives.
I had the privilege of tasting Estrel’s freshly baked Caramel Cake at a recent family event. Momshie Leng was gushing over it and I can’t help but feel the same way. The whole family, except one, was impressed by the cake’s velvety-smooth chiffon cake, not too sweet caramel icing and slightly buttery rose decors.
The only thing I’ve noticed though, was when we cut through the cake, the structure got pressed a little too much, which wasn’t the case in the other cakes we’ve had before. Perhaps the lack of any preservatives or flour treatment agents, was the reason behind it, which was actually not a bad thing after all.
It is best to order your cake of choice, a day or two, even three, before your event. But if you’re unable to do so, you can reserve Estrel’s ready-made cake as seen above, by calling the shop as early as 8:30 am. Simply pay for it upon claiming your order before 3 PM that same day.
Since the cake is devoid of any preservatives, it’s highly recommended to consume it in just a day, maybe two or three, tops.
♪♪♪♪ Marvelous! Highly recommended.
